Low Alwinton Cottages in Northumberland can be found close to the small picturesque village of Alwinton, nestling at the foot of the Cheviot Hills in the Northumberland National Park.

Northumberland is a region of contrasts, with the Cheviot Hills inland and mile upon mile of sandy beaches and rocky headlands running along the fabulous unspoiled coastline.

Northumberland is also a region of great antiquity, and boasts the remains of ancient occupation dating back to the Stone Age. In the Simonside Hills, which overlooks nearby Rothbury, there are examples of ancient and mysterious prehistoric rock art, known as "Cup & Ring" marks.

The Romans have also left their mark on Northumberland, most famously at the World Heritage Site of Hadrian's Wall. However, there are a multitude of less well known Roman sites such as Chew Green, located a little further up the Coquet Valley.

In addition to all this, Northumberland is home to more castles and fortified houses than any other region in England. These include nearby Alnwick Castle, which was recently made famous as the location for Hogwarts School in the Harry Potter movies. Here you will also find the beautiful Alnwick Gardens. Then, of course, there's imposing Bamburgh Castle, Warkworth Castle and the magnificently perched cliff-top ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle.

The four cottages of Low Alwinton, which offer fabulous self-catering accommodation in Northumberland, are situated along the banks of the River Coquet, which is famous for its challenging fishing.

Northumberland is a fantastic holiday destination, with so much to see and do. It is also a great place for spotting wildlife, it is a haven for the black grouse, osprey, and otters, amongst other wildlife.

But if all the peace and quiet of the countryside gets too much, don't worry because at Low Alwinton Cottages you are only a short drive away from thriving market towns, such as Alnwick and Morpeth.
